Matt opened Viceroy NYC as opening General Manager of The Roof, overseeing the high-volume operation for Gerber Group. He went on to work for Ian Schrager on two of New York City’s most high-profile hotel openings. First, serving as Director of Beverage and Bars, and member of the executive committee for The New York Edition, earning Four Star Forbes. Matt oversaw opening operations for all the food and beverage venues. He worked closely with Stephen Starr and Jason Atherton to oversee The Clocktower restaurant, earning two-star New York Times and one Michelin star. Ian Schrager then entrusted Matt to open Public Hotel NYC, as Director of Operations - Restaurants & Bars, and member of the executive committee. He worked closely on the design and construction of the bars, kitchens, and back of house areas with the relevant stakeholders. He developed, implemented, and stabilized operational systems to maximize revenue for ownership. Succeeding Public, for almost four years, he was Chief Operating Officer and Managing Partner of Golden Age Hospitality, which he built into one of the leading hospitality groups in New York City. At that time the group encompassed eight distinct, high-profile, critically acclaimed, successful concepts: Wythe Hotel, Le Crocodile (Three Star New York Times Review), Lemon’s, ACME, Tijuana Picnic, Slowly Shirley, Ray’s Bar, and The Happiest Hour.
